If the device has switched back to the router, a guest network, mobile data, or a VPN route that interferes with local traffic, the extender interface may not open.

For this reason, the most useful first check is not the Internet connection. Confirm which WiFi network the device is actually using, then enter the local address directly in the browser address bar. If hostname access fails, the extender's local IP can be a better diagnostic route.
