WiFi Extender Performance and Placement

Diagnose and fix the problem

  1. Place for backhaul, not for the dead zoneStart roughly halfway to the target area, then use the router-link indicator and testing to refine placement.
  2. Compare bands correctly2.4 GHz generally reaches farther; 5 GHz usually provides more capacity at shorter range.
  3. Expect repeater overheadA single-radio or shared-band repeater retransmits traffic, so client throughput can be lower than at the router.
  4. Test one variable at a timeRecord router speed, backhaul location, client distance and band before changing channels or factory-resetting.
  5. Consider Ethernet or meshFor difficult layouts, wired access points or a coordinated mesh system may outperform repeated extender relocation.
