Fast diagnosis: Do not reset merely because one phone cannot connect. First determine whether other clients and the router link are working.

1. Decide whether reset is necessary

Factory reset removes saved router details and local administrator settings. That creates additional work, so use it for unrecoverable configuration rather than as the first troubleshooting step.

Try reconnecting the client.
Power-cycle the extender.
Check router-link quality.

2. Prepare for reconfiguration

Have the router SSID/password available and know the correct setup method for the model.

Record router WiFi details.
Keep the extender powered.
Locate the recessed Reset/Factory Reset control.

3. Perform the model-specific reset

Reset timing and LED response can differ by model. Hold the control for the duration stated in the model guide/manual, then release and allow a complete reboot.

Use a paper clip only if the control is recessed.
