WiFi Extender Connected but Device Gets No IP Address

Diagnose DHCP, security and router-link failures when a client self-assigns an address.

Diagnose and fix the problem

  1. Check the client addressAn address such as 169.254.x.x indicates no DHCP lease; record the gateway and DNS fields too.
  2. Test the router linkIf the extender has lost its upstream connection, it cannot reliably pass the router's DHCP replies.
  3. Forget and rejoinRemove the saved extended network, reconnect and enter the current WiFi credential.
  4. Check router DHCP capacity and filteringConfirm the DHCP pool is not exhausted and access control has not blocked the client or extender.
  5. Reboot in orderRestart the router fully, then the extender, then renew the client connection before considering a reset.
Before a factory reset: If these checks do not match your model, stop before resetting and use its exact manual or model guide.
