Diagnose and fix the problem

  1. Wait for the reset to finishKeep power connected until startup indicators stabilise; rescanning during reboot can miss the setup SSID.
  2. Verify the reset actually occurredUse the model-specific hold time and watch for the documented LED response.
  3. Rescan close to the extenderForget old extender profiles, toggle WiFi and scan within the same room.
  4. Check for a different default nameSome models or revisions use a label-specific setup name rather than exactly NETGEAR_EXT.
  5. Rule out radio and power problemsTry another client and outlet. No setup SSID on multiple clients after a confirmed reset can indicate a hardware issue.
Before a factory reset: If these checks do not match your model, stop before resetting and use its exact manual or model guide.
